Chief Advisor Heading to Switzerland
Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, is set to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland. If everything goes as planned, he will depart from Dhaka on the night of January 20.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stated that the WEF annual meeting will be held in Davos, Switzerland, from January 20 to 24. Dr. Muhammad Yunus will attend this event, and as part of his four-day visit, he is scheduled to leave Dhaka for Davos on the night of January 20. He will stay in Davos from January 21 to 24 and will return to Dhaka after completing all formalities on January 24.
In addition to attending the conference, Dr. Yunus will meet with various international leaders, heads of organizations, CEOs of companies, and entrepreneurs. He is also expected to give interviews to several international media outlets.
It has been reported that the Chief Advisor's office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are still finalizing his complete itinerary, with adjustments being made based on the importance of different engagements.
Notably, after the interim government assumed power on August 8 of last year, Dr. Yunus began his foreign visits with a trip to the United States, where he attended the United Nations General Assembly in New York. His second trip was in November to Azerbaijan for the COP-29 summit.
Most recently, he visited Egypt in December to attend the D-8 Summit. All three trips were to multilateral forums, and so far, he has not undertaken any bilateral visits.
