Prime Minister left Dhaka for two-day visit
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for New Delhi on a two-day state visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday (21 June) at 2:30 pm.
The flight is scheduled to land at New Delhi's Palam airport at 4 pm local time. A high-level delegation from India and High Commissioner of Bangladesh in India Md. Mustafizur Rahman will welcome Sheikh Hasina at the airport.
This is the first bilateral visit by a head of government to India after the BJP-led coalition that won the Lok Sabha elections and formed the government for the third consecutive term. During the visit, a private meeting will be held between the two Prime Ministers followed by delegation-level discussions. Several agreements and MoUs will be signed between Dhaka and New Delhi to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
A possible trade deal is also expected to be discussed. A number of cross-border initiatives have been launched as part of stronger regional partnerships over the past decade. This is Sheikh Hasina's second visit to the Indian capital in less than 15 days. She was among the dignitaries invited to Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister on June 9.
