AL celebrates Platinum Jubilee today

Today is June 23. Awami League, the country's largest political party, entering its 75th year of establishment. In this long journey, in the struggle to establish the rights and democracy of the Bengali nation, the organization has added one feather after another to the crown of success by overcoming all the obstacles.

There are very few organizations in the world that have been lucky enough to celebrate a 'Platinum Jubilee' with consistent success. On the occasion of the day, a detailed program has already been taken by the party.

This political party was established on June 23, 1949 with the debut of the East Pakistan Awami Muslim League in the traditional Rose Garden of old Dhaka. It was the first opposition party in Pakistan at that time.

Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani became the founding president of the party. After the formation of the new political party at Rose Garden, when Maulana Bhashani was tasked with forming a new executive committee, he announced a committee of 40 in consultation with others. Shamsul Haque became the general secretary of that committee. Ataur Rahman Khan, Ahmed Ali Khan, Ali Amjad Khan, Shakhawat Hossain and Abdus Salam Khan were made vice presidents.

Although Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was detained in prison, he was made joint general secretary in the first committee of Awami League. Centrally, Pakistan Awami Muslim League was formed but later renamed as 'Awami League' to reflect more non-communal political ideology.

Awami League taken elaborate programmes, marking its founding anniversary.

Earlier, the party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced a three-day programme to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary. Awami League already announced a 10-point program on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary on Sunday (June 23). Among the programs around the platinum jubilee, national and party flags will be hoisted at the central office and Awami League party offices nationwide on Sunday at sunrise. Then at 7 in the morning at Dhanmondi No. 32, pay homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the historical Bangabandhu Bhaban premises.

Also, at 10:30 in the morning, a delegation from the Awami League Central Executive will pay tribute at the grave of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is lying in eternal sleep in Tungipara. The members of this party are Muhammad Faruk Khan, Presidium Member, Central Committee Member Abul Hasnat Abdullah, Shajahan Khan, Presidium Member, Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain, Agriculture and Cooperative Affairs Secretary Faridun Nahar Laily, Education and Human Resource Affairs Secretary Shamsun Nahar Begum, Health and Population Affairs Secretary Editor Dr. Rokeya Sultana, Central Executive Member of Parliament Shahabuddin Faraji and others.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of the foundation anniversary, the program will be inaugurated at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan at 2:15 PM by hoisting the national and party flags, playing the national anthem, and flying balloons and pigeons. After that discussion meeting and cultural program will be held at 2:30 PM. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina scheduled to preside over the event.
