13 Accused Including 9 Ex-Ministers Shown Arrested From ICT

The International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) has officially arrested 13 accused including 9 former ministers of the ousted Awami League government in the July-August massacre case.

A three-member judicial panel headed by the chairman of the International Criminal Tribunal Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar passed this order On Monday (November 18).

The panel also includes Justice Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam and other prosecutors were present at the tribunal.

Earlier, 13 accused were brought before the International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) from prison this morning. However, initially, 14 accused were supposed to appear before the tribunal, but Abdur Razzak was not brought because he was on remand in another case.

The Arrested accused are – former ministers Anisul Huq, Faruk Khan, Dr. Dipu Moni, Shajahan Khan, former state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Golam Dastagir Gazi, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s influential advisers Salman F Rahman, Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, retired Appellate Division Judge Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and former home secretary Jahangir Alam.

Earlier, on October 27, a three-member judicial panel headed by International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar ordered their attendance at the tribunal.

Notably, judicial proceedings at the International Crimes Tribunal began on October 17 with the issuance of arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina and 46 others on charges of crimes against humanity.
