A. K. Azad, Independent Member of Parliament requested the Finance Minister to publish the list of debtors in the National Parliament.

He made this demand by participating in the general discussion on the proposed budget in the National Parliament on Sunday (June 23).

A. K. Azad said that the amount of non-performing loans in the country is Tk 1 lakh 82 thousand crore, but basically it is Tk 5 lakh crore.

He said, 'Everyone knows who took this money. Therefore, I have requested the finance minister to reveal the names of these debtors in the national parliament. They have looted the money of the bank and smuggled it. Now if they are allowed to bring money with 15 percent tax, it will be unfair.'

He also said that 'Awami League declared 'zero tolerance' against corruption in its election manifesto. How can the sovereign parliament legalize the laundering of black money? Why the source of black money cannot be questioned?'

A.K. Azad said 'In this year's budget, the operational expenditure has been estimated at Tk 5 lakh 6 thousand 971 crore. Out of this, 22.1 percent of the budget will be spent on the public administration sector. If you give such a budget to a ministry, it will be like the head is heavier than the body.'

He said, 'Recently I saw in the newspaper that cars are being bought for AC Land and UNO at a very high cost. But Indian ministers travel in cars made in their country. Does it reduce their dignity? Now is the time to think about these things.'
