458 killed, 1,840 injured in 309 road accidents

At least 458 people were killed in 309 road accidents on roads and highways during Eid-ul Azha. On the other hand 1,840 people were injured. They are now taking treatment at different hospitals, Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity says.

The information was disclosed by Bangladesh Photo Journalist Association disclosed the matter at a press conferance on Wednesday (June 26).

Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, Secretary General of Bangladesh Jatri Kalayn Samity delivered his keynote speech.

About 458 people were killed and 1,840 were injured in 309 road accident. On the other hand, twenty people were killed and four injured in 22 accidents on the railway. In six accidents on waterways about ten people were killed, six injured and six went missing .

This information was revealed while observing the 15-day Eid journey from June 10 to June 24 after Eid, secretary general of Jatri Kalyan Samity said .

According to a data from World Health Organization, 15 percent patients of road accidents die at home or in hospital
