The Dhaka University administration has temporarily expelled three Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists from the university for the incident of beating two students.

The information came in through a press release on Sunday evening.

DU Proctor Professor Golam Rabbani also confirmed the matter. He told Rtv online, they were temporarily expelled as the allegation was proved in the probe committee report following primary investigation. They will be permanently expelled after getting the final report of the probe committee.

The expelled are Md. Sifat Ullah, Md. Al Imran and Md. Mahfuzur Rahman. It was known that they are the followers of Surja Sen hall unit Chhatra League president Golam Sarwar.

On last Saturday, Asaduzzaman, a third year student of Economics Department with his female friend of the same department were standing in front of Registrar Building at around 5 pm. At that time a group of 10-12 Chhatra League activists came to them and wanted to know their identity. They also wanted them to show their identity cards.

Later they began to beat Asaduzzaman. They also beat the female student as she tried to save her friend.

After the incident the female student informed Proctor Professor Golam Rabbani about the incident over phone at 9 pm. Later at around 10 pm Surja Sen hall Provost Professor Maksud Kamal came and heard the statement of the victims. Later an application was submitted to the Proctor describing the incident. Then the university authority formed a three-member probe committee.
