PM leaves for China today on a four-day visit

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leaving for China's capital Beijing today on a four-day bilateral visit. Her visit is considered very important in developing the relationship between the two countries from a 'strategic partnership' to a 'strategic comprehensive cooperation partnership'.

A chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her entourage at 11 am on Monday (July 8). The flight is scheduled to land at Beijing Capital International Airport at 6 pm Beijing time.

It is reported that during her stay in Beijing on July 8-11, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on July 10 and a delegation-level meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang. At least 20 to 22 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) are likely to be signed between Bangladesh and China during the four-day bilateral visit.

In a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that during the Prime Minister's visit, cooperation in the economic and banking sectors, trade and investment, digital economy, infrastructure development, assistance in disaster management, construction of the 6th and 9th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge, export of agricultural products from Bangladesh and the memorandums of understanding between the people of the two countries are likely to be signed.

The foreign minister said that the inauguration of several projects of the two countries will also be announced during the visit.
