Minister of State for Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that due to the situation arising around the quota reform movement in government jobs, the mobile internet service has been temporarily stopped. He said, if the situation is normal, the connection will be given quickly.

He revealed this information on Thursday (July 18).

The state minister said, 'Mobile internet has been temporarily stopped due to various rumors and unstable situation of self-interested circles on social media around the students' movement. No prior announcement was made for this, this decision was taken after understanding the situation.'

He said, 'The government has contacted Facebook, Google, YouTube and TikTok. But their privacy policy on removing controversial content is not satisfactory. Then these companies will not be exempted if there is a loss of life due to them. They have to set up data centers in Bangladesh and conduct business in accordance with the laws of the country.'

Meanwhile, the agitating students are observing 'Complete Shutdown' today (Thursday, July 18) to demand the brutal attack of police-BGB-RAB and SWAT on the peaceful movement of the students, protesting the murder, trial of the murderers, ensuring a terror-free campus and logical reform of the quota system. During this program, everything except hospitals, media and other emergency services will be closed.
