After the resignation of Sheikh Hasina from the post of Prime Minister on the afternoon of August 5, police stations in Dhaka were left empty. After that, not only the police station, but all the police units became empty. The newly appointed IGP of police Md. Moinul Islam has ordered the policemen to join their respective units by Thursday evening.
In a press conference organized at the police headquarters on Wednesday (August 7) at 4 pm, IGP Md. Moinul Islam ordered all the members of the units to join the work by Thursday (August 8) evening.
According to the directive, the security of all specialized police units including Rajarbagh Police Licenses, POMs, Armed Police Battalions (APBNs), all Metropolitan and District Police Lines, other police establishments must be ensured. Force discipline and chain of command must be restored and re-established.
It also said that during this period, officers and forces of all metropolitan, district, naval, railway and highway police stations have been directed to join the police lines of their respective units.
