Former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina broke her silence after being ousted from power in the face of mass student protests. Sheikh Hasina, who is in India, blamed foreign powers like the US for ousting her.

It is reported that she made this complaint in a message addressed to the party leaders. In a report on Sunday (August 11), the Indian media 'The Print' reported this information.

Sheikh Hasina said this a few days after the Indian government announced that it was looking into whether the 'hands of foreign powers' were behind the political crisis in Bangladesh.

In the message, Sheikh Hasina said, I could have stayed in power, if I had given up the sovereignty of St. Martin Island and allowed the United States to establish authority in the Bay of Bengal.

She also said I resigned so that I don't have to see the procession of dead bodies. If I had stayed in the country, more lives would have been lost, more property would have been destroyed. Taking everything into consideration, I made the very difficult decision of emigrating. Now I want to say to the people of my country, please don't be fooled by the fundamentalists.

Sheikh Hasina has promised to return to the country in her message. She said I will return soon, InshAllah. The defeat is mine, but the people of Bangladesh have won. I removed myself. I came with your support, you were my strength. When you didn't want me, I left and resigned. Awami League has stood up again and again and will stand up again.

Referring to the quota movement and student protests, Sheikh Hasina said, 'I want to tell the young students of Bangladesh once again that I have not called you Razakars in any way.' Rather, my words were twisted to excite you. Please watch the entire video of that day again. Conspirators have taken advantage and used you to destabilize the country.'

It should be noted that Sheikh Hasina left the country after resigning from the post of Prime Minister in the face of mass protests on August 5. This ended her 15-and-a-half-year rule. There was virtually no government in the country for three consecutive days after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. Later on August 8, the interim government was formed.
