3 days remand of former MP Latif granted

The court has granted a 3-day remand of MA Latif, former Member of the Parliament of Chattogram-11 Constituency.

He was sent to court on a seven-day remand after his arrest on Saturday (August 17) morning. Following that, the court granted a three-day remand at around 12 noon.

According to police sources, a person named Ershad was injured in the anti-discrimination student movement. Later, he filed a case against 100 to 150 unidentified people, including MA Latif, at Double Mooring police station on Friday.

In the case, it is alleged that MA Latif threatened to shoot.

Double Mooring police station officer-in-charge (OC) Fazlur Quader Patwari told the media that former member of parliament MA Latif was arrested from Bayezid Bostami area.

Incidentally, MA Latif won as the candidate of Awami League in Chattogram-11 constituency in the 12th National Parliament election held last January. Before this, he was also elected MP from Awami League in the National Parliament elections held in 2008, 2014 and 2018. Apart from this, Latif was also the former president of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the top business organization of Chattogram.
