Flood situation in Feni, thousands of people trapped in water

Although the flood situation in Feni has improved, the water in the remaining three upazilas is slowly receding. The water has dropped two feet in the last few days. The suffering of people who are stuck in water and returning to their homes has increased.

Thousands of people in Feni Sadar, including Daganbhuiyan and Sonagazi, are still water-logged. There is no limit to their suffering. Food crisis has become evident. Various diseases are spreading along with dry food and pure water, emergency medicines. So far 17 melted bodies have been found in different places. Many have not been identified. People are entering damaged houses in Parashuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya. Their suffering and misery increased.

Meanwhile, voluntary organizations including the Feni district administration, army, BGB, BNP, and Jamaat-e-Islami are continuing to distribute relief. However, due to a lack of coordination, many people complained of not getting relief and food items due to a lack of balanced distribution. BNP, Jamaat said that they are distributing the bill through their ward-based activists.

Medical services have been introduced by the administration and political leaders through the medical board in all upazilas and districts.

The victims said that it would take more time for water to recede due to the breach of the Musapur regulator. As sea tidewater is entering easily. As a result, there is no end to the suffering of the people of Daganbhuiyan and Sonagazi upazilas.

Feni Deputy Commissioner Musammat Shahina Akter said that ten lakh people have been affected by the flood. The flood waters are beginning to recede. The water will recede in the next 2-4 days.

He said that there has been a loss of more than 1000 crore. About 300,000 chickens died along with 65,000 cattle. 40 people are receiving treatment for snake bite.

About a hundred patients are receiving medical treatment for water-borne diseases of children's diarrhea. Government assistance to flood-affected people continues.
