3056 exempted including BNP's Khasru, Jamaat's Parwar

The police submitted the final report requesting the acquittal of all the accused in 228 cases that occurred during the anti-discrimination student movement.

A total of 3056 people including BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Miah Golam Parwar were accused in those cases.

Those cases were filed against them for vandalism, obstructing government work, theft, arson. Cases were filed from July 17 to August 5.

According to court order, the investigating officer applied for exemption from the responsibility of the accused as there was no evidence to prove the crime.

However, the case will be revived if any reliable information including finding the real accused involved in the incident is found in the future. The defendants were acquitted.
