Ex-minister Anwar Hossain Manju arrested

Former minister and Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Anwar Hossain Manju has been arrested from Dhaka's Dhanmondi area on Monday (September 2) afternoon.

DB's Joint Commissioner of Police (North) Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to the media.

He said, "A team of DB police arrested him. There were five cases against him. He has been taken to the DB office."

Anwar Hossain Manju is a former Parliament Member of Pirojpur-2 Constituency and former Water Resources Minister. Prior to this, he was minister of two other ministries (Minister of Communications and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources).

Alongside, he is a 7-time Member of Parliament elected from Pirojpur-2 Constituency comprising Pirojpur District's Kawkhali, Bhandaria, and Jianagar Upazila.

Incidentally, in the 12th National Assembly elections, Manju lost to candidate Mohiuddin Maharaj in Pirojpur-2 constituency.
