High Police Security, Army Patrolling Deployed Around JaPa Office
A large number of policemen have been deployed on the premises of Jatiya Party (JaPa) headquarters in the capital's Kakrail area. Besides, several army teams have been patrolling the adjacent streets.
However, none of Japa's leaders and activists could be seen in the vandalized and arson-damaged office.
The Jatiya Party announced a rally on Saturday (November 2) to protest against the attack, vandalism, and arson at the party's head office in Kakrail on Thursday (October 31). Announcing to resist the rally, a counter program was given under the banner of 'Anti-fascist students, workers, and masses'.
In this situation, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) issued a public notice on Friday night announcing the prohibition of gatherings, processions, and protests in Kakrail and surrounding areas.
The Jatiya Party postponed its rally after the DMP's ban. However, without taking any risk, the administration has taken additional security measures in that area.
Masud Rana, deputy commissioner (DC) of the DMP’s Ramna division, said extensive security arrangements have been made in Kakrail and adjacent areas due to the ban on rallies. The policemen have been stationed at different points, while the army men, alongside the cops, are patrolling the streets.
As a result, there is no lack of security in that area.
Incidentally, the tension around the Jatiya Party started last Thursday evening when a group of activists marched under the banner of the anti-fascist student-labor crowd in front of the Jatiya Party office in Kakrail. There was a chase and exchange of fire with the JaPa workers.
Later, there was an attack, vandalism, and arson at the Japa office. At one point, Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam of the anti-discrimination student movement announced on their Facebook page that they would march from Dhaka University to there.
