Dr. Yunus's National Address:
6 Commissions to Drive Major Reforms in Bangladesh
In a significant move towards reform, the interim government has decided to establish six commissions, as announced by Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus during his national address on Wednesday, September 11.
Dr. Yunus emphasized the need for constitutional reforms to represent the interests of all citizens and to reflect the spirit of the July People's Uprising. As an initial step, six commissions will be formed, each tasked with addressing specific areas of governance.
He further explained that six distinguished citizens have been appointed to lead these commissions based on their expertise:
Electoral System Reform Commission: Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar
Police Administration Reform Commission: Sarfraz Chowdhury
Judiciary Reform Commission: Justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman
Anti-corruption Reform commission: Dr. Iftekharuzzaman
Public Administration Reform Commission: Abdul Mueed Chowdhury
Constitution Reform Commission: Dr. Shahdeen Malik
Dr. Yunus noted that additional members of the commissions will be selected in consultation with the appointed leaders. These commissions will also involve advisory council members, students, workers, representatives from civil society, political parties, and participants in the people's movement, ensuring a wide range of perspectives in the reform process.
This initiative marks the beginning of broader efforts to address governance issues and promote national unity.
