Ex-DMP Chief Asaduzzaman Placed on 7-day Remand

The court granted a 7-day remand on the former police commissioner of DMP, Asaduzzaman Mia, who was arrested in the case related to the murder of the Former General Secretary of Khilgaon Thana Chhatra Dal Md. Nuruzzaman Jony in 2015 in the name of crossfire. Jony was in police custody then.

Asaduzaman was detained from Dhaka’s Mohakhali on Wednesday (September 11). He was later shown arrested in the murder case.

The police delivered him to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka on Thursday (September 12). After that, the investigating officer applied for a 10-day remand for proper investigation of the case. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam granted a seven-day remand.

Jony was picked up by the detective branch (DB) of police on September 19, 2015, arrested by police, and was killed in so-called 'crossfire' the next day. His father filed the case on September 3, 2024, with Khilgaon Police Station against 62 people including former lawmaker Saber Hossain Chowdhury.
