Action to Be Taken Against Police Not Reporting for Duty: Home Advisor
Home Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that action will be taken against police members who have not yet reported for duty.
He made this announcement on Wednesday (September 18) morning after the closing parade of the 40th BCS (Ansar) officer cadets and the 25th batch of male recruits at the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force training center in Kaliakoir, Gazipur.
The Home Advisor said, "Those police members who have not reported for duty and are hiding will not be allowed to join now. Disciplinary action will be taken against them, as they are likely involved in some misconduct, which is why they are not joining."
He noted that the number of police members who have yet to join is very small, and they are gathering information about them. He encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
During his speech, the Home Advisor highlighted the significant role of the Ansar forces in the Language Movement and the Great Liberation War. He also expressed gratitude to all the students and citizens who sacrificed their lives during the July Revolution that led to the fall of the autocratic government.
The Home Advisor stated, "Since the fall of the autocratic government, Bangladesh has been rejuvenated. The previous government and its institutions could not connect with the people, which is why they were compelled to flee in the face of the people's uprising. Many, including Abu Saeed, Mir Mukul, Yamin, and Fayaz, sacrificed their lives in this movement. My request to you (Ansar forces) is to dedicate yourselves to the welfare of the country and its people, working with integrity, dedication, and fairness. With everyone's cooperation, Bangladesh will stand tall in the world, InshaAllah."
He further remarked that after the fall of the autocratic government, when important establishments like traffic and airports were left without law enforcement, members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force stepped up to maintain law and order, often at great personal risk. Particularly, members of the Ansar Guard Battalion ensured internal security in Dhaka Metropolitan Police stations and are currently deployed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
In response to a journalist's question about granting magistracy powers to the military, he stated that the benefits of this decision would be enjoyed by the people of Bangladesh. He emphasized the need for the army to have certain powers to effectively maintain order, as other forces also face limitations.
The Home Advisor, Lieutenant General Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, received a salute as the chief guest at the event, accompanied by senior officials including Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmood, Director General of Ansar and Village Defense Force, and other senior officials.
