A meeting between Md. Touhid Hossain, Foreign Affairs Adviser to Bangladesh's interim government, and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

On Tuesday, September 24, Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared the news on social media platform X.

The meeting occurred on Monday evening, September 23, local time in New York, where the two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest between Bangladesh and India.

According to the Foreign Ministry's post on X, the discussions focused on issues related to the shared interests of both countries.

It is worth noting that on August 5, following a student-led uprising, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India, leading to significant political changes in Bangladesh. Amid ongoing tensions between the two countries, this was the first direct meeting between high-level representatives of Bangladesh and India.
