Trump’s Win Unlikely to Impact Bangladesh-U.S. Relations: Adviser
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain does not believe that Donald Trump's victory will bring any significant change in Bangladesh-U.S. relations. Speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday evening, November 7, Touhid Hossain shared his thoughts on the matter.
When asked if Trump’s presidency would impact Bangladesh-U.S. relations, he said, "We don’t need to speculate. Let’s wait for the next two to three months and see."
The adviser added, "There is still a two-month period before he assumes office. We will observe his initial actions. He hasn’t mentioned anything about improving or worsening relations with Bangladesh."
Touhid Hossain further noted that Bangladesh’s relations with the U.S. do not depend solely on political parties. "The discussions and negotiations that were ongoing with the Biden administration were also present during the previous Trump administration," he explained.
He concluded, "I don’t think there will be any major shift in Bangladesh-U.S. relations between the Trump and Biden administrations. We will make efforts to communicate, and then we’ll see what happens."
