Former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Arrested
Former Member of Parliament and former Minister of Industries, Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
He was arrested early Wednesday morning (September 25) from the Gulshan area of the capital.
The matter was confirmed by RAB's Director of Legal and Media Wing, Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous.
He stated that Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was arrested in connection with a case filed over the attack, assault, and killings during the anti-discrimination student movement in Madhabdi, Narsingdi, on August 4. Legal proceedings against him are currently underway.
Nurul Majid’s son, Manjurul Majid Mahmud Sadi, shared the news of the arrest through a post on social media.
In the post, he wrote, "Allah is almighty. Our pride of Narsingdi—your beloved people's leader, Advocate Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, was arrested from his residence a while ago. He didn’t flee, nor will he ever flee."
He further wrote, "People of peaceful Monohardi and Belabo, stay united. Pray for our family and for my father’s safety, asking Allah for protection."
