This Country is for Everyone: Yunus Calls for Unity and Equality
In a message delivered on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja, the major religious festival of the Hindu community, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus stated that the Constitution guarantees equal rights to people of all religions and races. This country belongs to all of us.
Extending heartfelt greetings to all citizens of the Hindu faith in the country, the Chief Adviser said, "Durga Puja is not just a festival of the Hindu community, it has now become a universal celebration. The main feature of this Sharadiya Durga festival is the destruction of evil forces and the worship of truth and beauty. Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. Our Constitution guarantees equal rights to people of all religions and races. This country belongs to all of us.
Regardless of religion or race, this country is a safe home for all people. The interim government, formed through the unprecedented uprising of students, workers, and the public on August 5, is working to ensure equal rights and development for all, regardless of religion, race, or ethnicity.
Inspired by the spirit of anti-discrimination, I urge everyone to remain united in maintaining the bond of communal harmony and to build a hunger- and poverty-free, prosperous and happy dream Bangladesh. I wish peace, welfare, and prosperity for all the citizens of Bangladesh."
