Khaleda Zia Set to Travel London for Better Treatment

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will be taken abroad for treatment soon. She would first be taken to London, United Kingdom.

Khaleda Zia's physician Professor A Z M Zahid Hossain revealed this information to the media on Tuesday (29 October).

He said that Khaleda Zia will first be taken to London by long-distance specialized air ambulance. She will be taken to a multidisciplinary medical center in a third country from there.

He also said that depending on the physical health of Khaleda Zia, we have started the process to quickly take her to a multi-disciplinary hospital abroad. As part of this we have started working to hire Long Distance Specialized Air Ambulance, communication is in progress. First, she will be taken to London. After staying there, she will be taken to the country where the multi-disciplinary medical center is located.

Zahid Hossain said, "We hope that Khaleda Zia can go abroad soon after completing all the work. She is under round-the-clock supervision of the Medical Board at her Gulshan residence as before. Her condition is stable.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also received a letter from her office regarding the fact that Khaleda Zia will go abroad for treatment as a former Prime Minister. Relatives who will go with her including doctor-nurse have been informed there," he added.

Zahid Hossain also said that the BNP Chairperson's liver should be transplanted. It has only two centers in the United States. Specialist doctors have also been contacted there.

Incidentally, 79-year-old Khaleda Zia is suffering from various complications including liver cirrhosis, heart disease, lung disease, arthritis, kidney disease, and diabetes. She had to be treated for a long time by the medical board consisting of expert doctors, keeping her in the ICU at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

The former prime minister returned home after a month's treatment at Evercare Hospital on August 21 after the fall of the government in the mass movement of students.
