Chief Advisor Talks Sohel Taj Over Phone
Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj, son of national leader Tajuddin Ahmed, gave a memorandum to Dr. Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor of the interim government on Sunday (November 3) with three demands including declaring the Jail Killing Day as a national mourning day.
On Monday (November 4), Sohel Taj posted on social media Facebook in this regard.
He wrote, "3-point demand update: You all will be glad to hear that Chief Advisor Dr Mohammad Yunus called me this morning and I spoke to him for quite some time. He reverently remembered the contribution of Tajuddin Ahmad and the four national leaders in our great liberation war and assured me that steps would be taken so that the new generation would know the complete history of our great liberation war."
Earlier, Sohel Taj appeared in front of Hotel Intercontinental-adjacent Sakura restaurant in the capital on Sunday at 4 pm and spoke to reporters.
As per the earlier announcement, before the start of the march towards Jamuna, the Chief Advisor's residence, the representative of the Chief Advisor's office arrived at 5 pm and took the memorandum containing the demands. Later there was no need for the march. However, at this time, hundreds of policemen were seen standing on the opposite side of the Sakura restaurant with road barricades.
The 3 demands presented to the Chief Advisor are-
- Since the first government of Bangladesh was formed through the declaration of independence on 10 April 1971, Bangladesh was born as an independent-sovereign state (republic), so this day is declared as 'Republic Day'.
- Jail Killings Day on November 3 should be declared as a national day of mourning and observed nationally.
- The names, contributions, and biographies of all the civil and military organizers, directors, immortal martyrs, and brave freedom fighters including the four national leaders, the accurate and complete history of the liberation war must be included in the textbooks and syllabus of all levels with due dignity and importance.
