COP-29 Conference
Chief Advisor Meets Top World Leaders
Chief advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus passed a busy day today, the opening day of the COP29 global climate summit, in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
By attending the conference, he met the top leaders of several countries and heads of international agencies.
This was informed in a message sent from the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor on Tuesday (November 12). At least three important events in the main phase of the COP-29 summit will be addressed by Dr Yunus.
The chief advisor met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish first lady at the summit of the world leaders at the COP29 venue.
President Erdogan invited him to visit Turkey. He assured Bangladesh of all possible help in its journey to carry out deep reforms and build a prosperous country.
Muhammad Yunus also invited them to visit Bangladesh soon.
Professor Yunus also met with Prime Minister Daniel Risch of Liechtenstein and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan.
He also met with President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives and President Denis Becriovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The chief advisor also met with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He met and greeted Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, and Maldives' president Mohamed Muizzu. He also met Tshering Tobgay, the prime minister of Bhutan, and Ramchandra Paudel, the president of Nepal.
Dr Yunus also met the prime minister of Belgium, president of Ghana, prime minister of Bosnia Herzegovina, president of Rwanda, prime minister of Albania, president of Montenegro, prime minister of Barbados, vice presidents of Brazil and Iran, president of FIFA, and director general of IOM.
The Chief Advisor will be on a state visit to Baku, Azerbaijan till next Thursday (November 14). It is known that he will spend a very busy time on this visit. How Bangladesh is facing damages due to climate change and what are their claims in this regard; Dr Yunus will present those issues to the world.
Earlier, the Chief Advisor arrived in Azerbaijan's capital Baku on Monday (November 11) to lead Bangladesh in the UN's annual climate change conference.
