BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has said, BNP will go for election, nothing could refrain us from election even anybody wants. 2018 will be the year of democracy.

She said these while addressing at a student gathering organized to mark the 39th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Engineers Institution in the capital on Tuesday.

Criticizing the government Khaleda Zia said, this government is illegal. Democracy is not prevailing in the country. The country is running according to direction of one person. The country is not forwarding for one person’s ruling, rather it is moving back.

She said, in 2008 Awami League said they would feed people with rice at 10 taka per kg, would provide job in every home and supply fertilizer free. Today the price of rice is 70 taka per kg, they raised price of fertilizer three times. During our rule a shack of fertilizer was sold at 3 hundred taka which is now 12 hundred taka.

Highlighting that Sheikh Hasina created militants Khaleda Zia said, when we were in power they created militants. Shayekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Vai were relatives of Awami League. The people of Bangladesh are peace loving. They want peace. Government is creating militants by slandering. They make innocent people militant by keeping them captive for long time. The condition of the country is deteriorating. To protest these students and young generation should rise.

Expressing anger she said, we want to maintain discipline. They (government) break the discipline. Police are not bad but they make police bad. You (Police) are the servant of people. You should work to solve people’s problem. We have no dispute or anger with you. Let the arrested innocent free.

The founding anniversary of Chhatra Dal was on Monday. To observe it the student front organized a discussion meeting at the Engineers Institution at 2 pm on Tuesday. But at 10 am the gate of the auditorium was found locked. Police also barred people to enter. Later Khaleda Zia took part in a gathering in front of the locked auditorium.
