Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Demands Job Application Fee Reduction Within 3 Days
The Chhatra Odhikar Parishad has made four demands, including a demand to reduce the job application fee to a maximum of Tk 200 within the next three days.
The organization has warned of a tough protest on the streets if this demand is not fulfilled.
Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Central President Bin Yamin Mollah gave this warning at a press conference organized at the Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday (November 30).
At the press conference, he said, "Even though all governments promise to do a lot for unemployment before coming to power, they forget that promise when they come to power.
On November 19, advisor Asif Mahmud said that an assessment is underway regarding the job application fee. Why is the assessment taking so long? This assessment has been done long ago."
Bin Yamin Mollah said, "The 47th BCS exam is coming up, and job seekers will have to apply for Tk700 again. An ordinance should be issued to reduce the job application fee to a minimum of Tk200. We are giving the government a three-day ultimatum to take immediate action on this issue. If visible steps are not taken in this regard, we will go on a movement if necessary."
4-point demands raised by the Student Rights Council at the press conference are:
1. Reduce the job application fee to a maximum of Tk200.
2. Publish the cut-off marks of the preliminary exam.
3. Publish the preliminary, written, and Viva number sheets separately and publish one set of answers for the preliminary.
4. Complete the recruitment process for BCS within a maximum of one year and for other jobs within a maximum of six months. Remove fascist allies and corrupted people from the PSC.
Among others, the Central General Secretary of the Student Rights Council, Nazmul Hasan, Convenor of the DU branch, Md Sanaullah Haque, and Member Secretary Rakibul Islam also spoke at the press conference.
