Although the effect of winter was not felt much at the beginning of November, the cold began to be felt in different parts of the country in the middle of November. Due to Cyclone Fengal at the end of November, the temperature decreased and the intensity of the cold increased a little. However, some regions have not yet experienced much cold.

The Meteorological Department says that due to the cyclone, there has been a drizzle in different parts of the country. Due to this, the cold is being felt a little more towards the end of the night. The lowest temperature of 10.5°C has been recorded in Tetulia in the last 24 hours. However, even if the cold does not settle down across the country right now, a cold wave may blow in the second week of December.

Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque said that there is no possibility of severe cold being felt during the current week. However, the temperature will continue to decrease. There is a possibility of a cold wave blowing by December 15.

He said that normally there is a mild to moderate cold wave in December and a severe one towards the end of winter. The cold wave mainly starts from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Then the cold wave spreads to Dhaka, Chattogram, and Barishal divisions.

It is to be noted that if the temperature drops to 8 to 10°C, it is considered a mild cold wave, if it drops to 6 to 8°C, it is considered a moderate cold wave and if it drops to 4 to 6°C, it is considered a severe cold wave.

In addition, if the temperature drops below 4°C, it is considered a very severe cold wave.
