We Are Committed to Ensuring Justice for All: Chief Justice
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has stated, "We are committed to ensuring justice for all by expanding legal aid services, enhancing capabilities, and overcoming socio-economic barriers."
On Saturday (December 7), he made these remarks as the chief guest at a seminar titled "Judicial Independence and Efficiency in Bangladesh" held at a hotel in Dhaka. The seminar, jointly organized by the Bangladesh Supreme Court and the UNDP, discussed steps to ensure judicial independence and enhance the efficiency of legal services.
The Chief Justice emphasized, "At the core of all our efforts is the creation of a judicial system that serves the people. Justice must not remain confined to courtrooms in major cities; it needs to reach every corner of the country."
UNDP Bangladesh's Resident Representative, Stefan Liller, delivered the welcome address at the seminar. Justice Ashfaqul Islam of the Appellate Division participated as a special speaker.
The seminar was attended by judges of the High Court Division, district-level judges, officials from the Supreme Court registry, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Judicial Administration Training Institute, the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission, and the Law Commission.
