The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three separate cases against Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, and her younger daughter Azmina Siddiq for allegedly acquiring government plots in the Purbachal New Town Project from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) through abuse of power.

This development was confirmed by ACC Director General (Prevention) Akhtar Hossain during a press briefing at the commission's headquarters on January 13. Along with Rehana and her family members, Sheikh Hasina (the ousted prime minister and Rehana's sister), Rehana's eldest daughter Tulip Siddiq, and several officials from Rajuk and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works have also been implicated in the cases.

The ACC's investigation revealed that Tulip Siddiq, a British MP and city minister, used her influence to illegally secure plots for her family, manipulating her aunt, Sheikh Hasina's power. Tulip, Bobby, and Azmina are accused of obtaining three plots (10 katha each, totalling 30 katha) located on Road 203 in the diplomatic zone of Sector 27 in the Purbachal New Town Project.

Akhtar further explained that Rehana is named in a case involving 15 accused individuals, while the cases against Bobby and Azmina involve 16 people each.

In a related development, on January 12, the ACC filed another case against Sheikh Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and 14 others for allegedly acquiring similar plots in the Purbachal New Town Project through illegal means. The 14 accused include 10 officials from Rajuk and four from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.

Akhtar detailed that Saima Wazed used Sheikh Hasina's influence to obtain the allotment of Plot 017 on Road 203 in Sector 27 of the Purbachal New Town Project. Despite already having a house or flat within the Rajuk jurisdiction in Dhaka, she secured the plot for herself or her family members.

The ACC initiated an inquiry on December 26, 2024, into the illegal acquisition of 60 katha of government plots, involving Sheikh Hasina, Rehana, Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima, Bobby, Azmina, and other officials from the organizations involved. The family is accused of acquiring six 10-katha plots located on Road 203 in the proposed Diplomatic Zone of the Purbachal New Town Project by abusing their power and colluding with high-ranking Rajuk officials.

The plots were allocated in 2022, after which the matter was classified as highly confidential. The price of each 10-katha plot was set at Tk 3 lakh per katha, totalling Tk 30 lakh per plot. Hasina's plot, number 9 on Road 203 in Sector 27, was allocated to her on August 3, 2022.
