CA's Davos Visit Marked as Historic: Press Secretary
The participation of Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus in the World Economic Forum's (WEF) annual meeting in Davos was a landmark event for Bangladesh, described as historic by his Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam.
In a briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Sunday, Alam emphasized the significance of the Prime Advisor's visit to Switzerland, where he took part in over 47 events. Alam highlighted that the visit was a major accomplishment for Bangladesh.
Upon his arrival in Switzerland's Davos, the Prime Advisor first met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who expressed strong support for the interim government and pledged to assist Bangladesh in every way possible. Scholz also mentioned sending both a business and special delegation to Bangladesh to meet with policymakers and business leaders. The government sees this as an opportunity to strengthen trade ties with Germany.
Alam also noted that the United States had continued its aid to the Rohingya crisis, a gesture for which the Prime Advisor expressed his gratitude to President Donald Trump. He added that Bangladesh would host a major international conference on the Rohingya issue this year, with the participation of 170 countries and co-hosted by the United Nations.
