The High Court has cleared the way for BNP Vice Chairman Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and organizing secretary Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu to contest in the national election scheduled for December 30.
The High Court on Monday passed the order after disposing of two writ petitions challenging the EC order.
A High Court bench directed the Election Commission to accept their nominations and stayed the previous rejection order of the returning officers.
The returning officers concerned had rejected the nomination papers of Tuku and Dulu as they were convicted and sentenced in separate criminal cases.
Dulu's lawyer said now there is no bar for Tuku and Dulu to take part in the eleventh parliamentary election.
On Sunday, they filed separate writ petitions with the High Court to get back their candidatures for contesting the polls.
Dulu will take part in the election from Natore-2 constituency while Tuku from Sirajganj.
It is to be noted that the Election Commission is allocating polls symbols among the candidates for 300 constituencies today.
