A five-member team of specialist doctors from the China Medical Team has arrived in Dhaka to assist with the treatment of ailing Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia, whose condition is reported as highly critical.
The visiting delegation met with the medical board overseeing her care at Evercare Hospital on Monday afternoon, according to the board's head, cardiologist Dr. Shahabuddin Talukder.
Hospital sources indicated that the Chinese team reviewed Begum Zia's current health status and discussed necessary medical measures with the local doctors.
However, a main group of specialists is reportedly expected to reach Dhaka on Tuesday, pending her condition.
Begum Zia has been undergoing intensive treatment for the past four days at the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) due to longstanding complications affecting her liver, kidneys, and heart.
