Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia will be flown to London via air ambulance on Friday for advanced medical treatment, said BNP Standing Committee Member and Begum Zia's personal physician, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, at a press briefing on Thursday afternoon.
The former prime minister has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital since November 23 after being admitted with multiple health complications.
After her condition worsened, she was moved to the CCU on November 27. She is still under close monitoring and receiving intensive care for complications related to her liver, kidneys and heart.
A medical board, led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder, is supervising her treatment with support from specialist physicians.
A specialist doctor from the United Kingdom, Dr Richard Beale and two teams of specialist physicians from China have already arrived in Dhaka to assist in her treatment.
