
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Grigoryevich Khozin on Monday called for a reduction in bilateral tensions between Dhaka and New Delhi, emphasizing that a resolution should be reached "the sooner the better."
The Ambassador underscored the importance of de-escalating the situation to ensure a conducive environment ahead of Bangladesh's next national election, scheduled for February 12 next year.
Speaking at a press briefing at at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Dhaka, Alexander Khozin stressed that while Russia does not interfere in the bilateral affairs of other nations, neighboring countries should ideally guide their relations through mutual trust and confidence.
He cautioned both parties against allowing the current situation to escalate any further.
Addressing the internal political landscape of Bangladesh, the Ambassador welcomed the recently announced election schedule. He stated that Russia expects the national polls to be held as planned on February 12 and expressed hope for a conducive and peaceful environment leading up to the vote.
Regarding sending election observers, the Ambassador said they are in touch with the Election Commission and tMoscow is awaiting formal invitations before deploying Russian election observers to Bangladesh.
