Nationwide special prayers were offered on Friday following Jummah at the mosques across the country, seeking eternal peace for the late former Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
This follows an official directive from the Islamic Foundation, under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which coordinated the nationwide doa sessions.
Reflecting the country's pluralistic respect, special prayers were also held at temples, pagodas and churches.
Notably, the Mahanagar Sarbojaneen Puja Committee organized a dedicated prayer at the Dhakeshwari National Temple at 11 am on the same day.
Today marks the final day of the three-day state mourning period declared by the government.
Throughout this time, the national flag has flown at half-mast at all government, autonomous, and private institutions, as well as at Bangladesh missions abroad, where condolence books have been opened for the public.
Earlier on Wednesday, initial special prayers and munajats were held nationwide.
Begum Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 80 and was laid to rest with full state honors on Wednesday at Zia Udyan, beside her husband Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Her funeral at Manik Mia Avenue saw a massive gathering, with millions of citizens, foreign guests, and diplomats in attendance.
