The Bangladesh Embassy in Doha has issued a high-priority warning to Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar, following numerous reports of fraud involving promises of migration to Europe and the United States.

According to a notice released by the embassy on Wednesday (January 14), certain individuals and agencies in Qatar are reportedly targeting Bangladeshis with false promises of relocation to Western countries, leading to the embezzlement of large sums of money.

Modus Operandi of Fraudsters

The embassy highlighted that these fraudulent entities use the allure of a "dream life" in Europe and America to entice expatriates. Once the interest is piqued, the victims are persuaded to pay significant amounts of money for supposed visa processing or migration services.

Ultimately, these promises prove to be false, leaving many Qatar-based Bangladeshis financially devastated. Several victims have already filed formal complaints with the embassy regarding these scams.

In response to the rising number of complaints, the embassy has urged the community to exercise maximum caution:

• Financial Safety: Avoid paying any amount of money to individuals or institutions promising transit to Europe or America without verified credentials.
• Verification: Expatriates are encouraged to verify the legitimacy of migration offers through official channels before making any commitments.
