The United Kingdom has reaffirmed its commitment to a deepened bilateral partnership with Bangladesh following the 13th National Parliament Election and the concurrent constitutional Referendum, which was held last Thursday.

In a statement issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), a spokesperson welcomed the conclusion of the peaceful electoral process held on February 12 (Thursday), describing it as a significant step toward fulfilling the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.

The British government expressed its readiness to collaborate with the incoming administration on key shared priorities, including economic growth, migration, climate action, and regional security.

“We look forward to the new government advancing essential democratic, economic, and social reforms,” the FCDO spokesperson added.

This follows a formal congratulatory message from the British High Commission in Dhaka to BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and his party on their decisive victory, signaling a new chapter in UK-Bangladesh relations.
