President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath of office to the new cabinet members at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad tomorrow afternoon.

The ceremony, scheduled for 4 pm on Tuesday, marks the first time a new government will be sworn in at the Parliament Complex instead of the presidential palace, Bangabhaban.

The day’s proceedings will begin at 10 am with the swearing-in of newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) at the same venue.

Following this, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), having secured an overwhelming majority in the 13th parliamentary polls, will convene its Parliamentary Board to formally elect Tarique Rahman as the Leader of the House.

According to constitutional protocol, the elected leader will then meet with the President to demonstrate the party's absolute majority and seek a formal appointment as Prime Minister.

Once appointed, the Prime Minister-elect will select his cabinet colleagues. President Shahabuddin will first administer the oath to the Prime Minister, followed by the ministers, state ministers, and deputy ministers.

The Election Commission published the official gazette on Friday for 297 seats, confirming the BNP’s landslide victory with 209 seats. Jamaat-e-Islami, a former ally, will serve as the primary opposition with 68 seats.

Preparations for the historic event have been underway since Saturday, with the Cabinet Division and Parliament Secretariat coordinating logistics for a large-scale gathering.

To ensure the smooth movement of dignitaries and the public, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced special traffic restrictions around the Manik Mia Avenue and Parliament area from 8 am to 7 pm on Tuesday.
