Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a telephonic conversation with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday, extending his formal congratulations on his assumption of office as the country’s 11th Prime Minister.

The call, which took place around 3:00 pm, followed the landslide victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the 13th parliamentary elections.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli told the media, noting that the Malaysian leader warmly congratulated both the Prime Minister and his party on their electoral success.
