President Mohammed Shahabuddin has officially summoned the first session of the 13th Parliament to convene on March 12.

The session is scheduled to begin at 11 am in the Parliament Chamber of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Exercising his constitutional authority under Article 72(1), the President’s proclamation marks the formal start of the legislative journey for the newly elected assembly.

This sitting will be historic as it represents the inaugural session of the 13th Parliament and the first parliamentary gathering of the year.

The move follows the landmark general elections held on February 12, which were the first national polls since the massive student-led uprising in 2024.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured a decisive victory in the elections, winning a two-thirds majority.

The upcoming session is expected to begin with the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, followed by the President’s traditional address to the House.
