Parliament Declares Thakurgaon-1 Seat Vacant following Presidential Oath

The Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary constituency has been officially declared vacant following Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s assumption of office as the President of Bangladesh.

According to a official notification released by the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat, his parliamentary seat in Thakurgaon-1 became vacant in accordance with Article 50(4) of the Constitution upon his assumption of the presidency.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir formally took office as the 23rd President of Bangladesh at 7:30 pm on August 21, 2026, following his election during the presidential proceedings held at the Jatiya Sangsad on August 20.
