
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday directed the Bangladesh Coast Guard to maintain its unwavering commitment to public service and disaster response, particularly in the nation’s vital coastal and riverine regions.
The directive was issued during a courtesy call by Coast Guard Director General Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Haque at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon, the Prime Minister emphasized the force's critical role in ensuring peace, security, and safeguarding public interests.
“The Prime Minister directed the Coast Guard to continue its public service and disaster response activities, particularly in the coastal and riverine areas to ensure peace, security and safeguard public interests,” said his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.
Commending the maritime force for its "patriotism and professionalism," the Premier lauded their tireless efforts in serving the nation during both times of peace and crisis.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister further urged the Coast Guard to uphold the highest level of preparedness to protect the country's maritime sovereignty.
Following a briefing by Rear Admiral Ziaul Haque on the force's current development projects, Prime Minister Rahman assured that the government would continue to support and expand the force's modernization and development initiatives in the future.
