Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended his heartfelt greetings to women across Bangladesh and the world on International Women's Day, emphasizing that women's advancement requires practical action rather than mere rhetoric.

In a detailed Facebook post, he reflected on this year’s theme, 'Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls', describing it as both timely and deeply meaningful.

"It reminds us that the advancement of women cannot be secured by words alone. Rights must be protected in practice, justice must be felt in everyday life, and action must bring real improvement to the lives of women and girls," he wrote.

Highlighting the vital role women play as the strength of families and an essential force in national progress, Tarique Rahman noted that their contributions are visible in every sphere of life.

He asserted, "No nation can achieve balanced and sustainable development unless women are empowered to participate fully, live with dignity, and move forward with confidence and security."

Central to this national vision is the newly introduced Family Card initiative.

Tarique Rahman pointed out the profound significance of issuing these cards in the name of the mother or female head of the household, recognizing women as the main pillar of resilience and care who hold families together through hardship.

Detailing the practical benefits of the initiative, Tarique Rahman explained that direct support provides a measure of financial security and dignity for women facing economic struggles, while also protecting the nutrition, education, and health of children.

"The true value of this initiative lies in what it can mean for ordinary people," he shared.

He explained that when assistance reaches women directly, it strengthens the entire family unit, making the Family Card a powerful instrument for reducing vulnerability and easing the burden of poverty.
