Newly elected Speaker of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal paid solemn tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War on Friday at the National Memorial in Savar.
The Speaker and Deputy Speaker arrived at the memorial at approximately 10:15 am to place wreaths at the altar, honoring the sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for Bangladesh’s independence.
Following the floral tribute, the two leaders stood in respectful silence for several minutes to commemorate the bravery and legacy of the fallen heroes.
The visit concluded with the leaders signing the official visitors' book, a tradition marking their commitment to the values for which the nation fought.
This visit serves as one of their first official duties following the inaugural session of the 13th Parliament, symbolizing a formal acknowledgement of the country's historic struggle for sovereignty.
