The first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) is scheduled to continue until April 30.

The decision was formalized during the inaugural meeting of the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed at the Cabinet Room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Saturday.

Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman was present at the meeting.

Other key attendees included Leader of the Opposition Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Dr. Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam, Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, ATM Azharul Islam, Opposition Chief Whip Md. Nahid Islam, Muhammad Naushad Zamir, and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal.

The committee conducted a detailed discussion regarding the time allocation and business agenda for the session.

According to the decision reached, 50 hours have been set aside for deliberations on the President’s speech. Furthermore, it was determined that parliamentary proceedings will commence daily at 3 pm, excluding government holidays.

The Speaker has been granted the authority to adjust the schedule or duration of the session as circumstances may require.

Preparations for the session indicate a high level of legislative activity, with 468 questions submitted for the government—eight of which are directed at the Prime Minister, while 460 are addressed to other ministers.

Additionally, the secretariat has received 27 notices to draw attention under Rule-71 and 97 notices of motions under Rule-131.

The meeting was facilitated by Parliament Secretary Kaniz Maula and attended by senior officials of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.
