Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday issued a resonant call for national unity, urging citizens to transcend political affiliations and personal opinions to collectively build a Bangladesh that fulfills the long-held aspirations of its people.

Speaking to reporters at the State Guest House Jamuna after exchanging Eid greetings with a cross-section of society, the Prime Minister shared his vision for the nation’s future.

"We pray to Allah this Eid that we can build the Bangladesh people aspire to," he stated, emphasizing that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to nation-building.

The Prime Minister, who also serves as the Chairman of the ruling BNP, expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr at home after many years in exile.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, he voiced his hope that future celebrations would take place in an even more "peaceful and uninterrupted environment."

Highlighting the importance of public trust, the Premier noted that an elected government can only move forward with "full strength" if it receives the continued cooperation and support of the people.

He urged all sections of society to set aside political differences and move forward together as a unified force.

During his address, the Prime Minister paid solemn tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War and those who sacrificed their lives in the 2024 student-people movement. He extended his wishes for peace, health, and prosperity to the entire nation.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister hosted a series of receptions at Jamuna.

He first exchanged greetings with members of the foreign diplomatic corps, followed by meetings with Cabinet members, Members of Parliament, distinguished academics, senior civil servants, and members of the Ulema and Mashaikh.

The event saw a large turnout of artists, writers, and representatives from various professional and social strata, all gathering to mark the premier religious festival of the year.
