Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday expressed profound shock and grief at the passing of Dilara Hafiz, a distinguished educationist and the spouse of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram.

In a formal condolence message, the Prime Minister paid tribute to her legacy, describing her as a noble soul whose contributions to the nation were invaluable.

"With her death, the nation has lost a noble educationist," the Premier remarked, highlighting her lifelong dedication to social work and the academic sector.

Dilara Hafiz passed away at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital. She breathed her last at 1:29 PM (Singapore local time) on this day.

She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, and a large circle of grandchildren, relatives, and admirers.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dilara Hafiz was a pivotal figure in the expansion of education in Bangladesh. She served with distinction as the Principal of both Eden Mohila College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.

Her leadership extended to the national level, where she served as the Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education under the Ministry of Education.
