Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting a democratic, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh.

The statement was made during a national-level Srimad Bhagavad Gita recitation competition held at the Dhakeshwari National Temple premises on Saturday.

The event, organized by the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP), served as a platform for cultural exchange and religious harmony.

High Commissioner Verma attended the prize-distribution ceremony as a guest of honor, emphasizing the deep-rooted ties between the two neighboring nations.

Joining the High Commissioner at the ceremony were Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the Prime Minister's Special Assistant, Bijon Kanti Sarkar.

BPUP President Basudeb Dhar and other senior dignitaries also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of such spiritual and cultural initiatives in fostering a diverse society.

The Indian High Commission confirmed on Sunday that the visit underscored India's ongoing partnership with Bangladesh in its journey toward stability and inclusivity.

The competition saw participation from across the country, celebrating the teachings of the Gita as a source of universal peace and wisdom.
